The ‘Cash for Clunkers’ (otherwise known as ‘CARS’) Program is controversial, expensive, and… effective! The impact on Automobile sales has been noticeable, but will be short-lived. What will last longer are the new relationships formed between new car dealers and auto recyclers, as they have been brought together by discussions about what to do with the trade-in autos. Discussions about what to do with older cars has brought welcome attention to the important work of the nation’s auto recycling industry.
